I try "in the mouth of the wolf".

What is Austria like? What is the food like? What are the interesting places that you visited?

Now I know why we don't usually hear about Austria on TV: there are rules which are followed, everything works just fine, the streets are clean, you got a receipt for everything you buy and so on. I was also quite impressed by the local people: German speaking people are usually said to be cold and unfriendly but, even if I found someone like that, most of them were kind and available. For instance I don't speak a word in German but EVERYBODY speaks English fluently and many (mainly in tourist location) speak also a little Italian, so communication was not at all a problem.

And here's the drawback: food. It's just terrible. Soup, soup and soup: green, orange, white but always soup. (Cooking a ton of pasta would have been far easier, in view of the fact we were all Italian...). Second course: meat and potatoes, everyday. Surely better than soup but not enough to make up for that. Thank God he invented McDonald's! There is one between McDonald's and Burger King every 50m. Their number is really impressive!

I've been to Innsbruck (very pretty and small), Salzburg (I would have surely enjoyed it more if it hadn't been snowing all day long), Vienna (I was impressed by how huge are its cathedral and Shonbrunn palace) and Mauthausen (very very sad, visiting those places where thousands of people were killed made my skin crawl).

Hi everyone!
I haven't been writing for some time because first I went to Austria with my class and then I had a full immersion to preapare my FCE, which I took yesterday. :-D I think it was all fine but the listening test which was f***ing hard!! (moreover, we hadn't headphones available...).

Anyway, Friday me and other six people from my school went to Lingotto for the so called "Festa della Matematica". It was a complete disaster but quite enjoyable. Maybe, I'll post some of the problems here to try and find a solution.

Hi friends!!
Someone thinks that mathematicians don't believe in God... I believe so much in He... What about you?
...I know that it's a difficult subject to deal by chat, but O want to know your opinions...

Indeed it is a difficult topic! I don't think that maths and God cannot go together: my maths teacher believes in God, for example. Personally I don't know. I'm sure there is something that goes beyond our possibilities of understanding but, for we can't say what it is, I think that the Christian God is just one of the names that can be given to it. I don't agree with many things that the Church say so I'm not a Catholic at all. Also, I don't think that God is only love and our life is just a passage to the eternal one. As I said, there is something but we can't know what it is so I would define myself an agnostic.

PS: I'm happy to talk about that but I wish we can avoid too harsh arguing like that of the "Dimissioni" topic in General section.

Your suggestion is right, Zero87. Increase your self-confidence! ;)
And again, many wishes for your graduation!!!

I believe so much in Him and I think that a proof of His existence is the perfection in some angle of math.
