@ gio73

I have been studying a lot of philosophers, from Aristotele and Platone to Kant. I study what they think and we usually discuss about their. Particoulary now we've been studying Kant. I do like it, 'cause his thought is in the middle between other two, which are extremist... How old are you? And what do you know about philosophy?

More like Red Alert. Or Worms 2 (and probably the original Worms too, but I never played with that).

Of course you mean "does anybody know it?". :) I never heard it as yet.
I used to love other kinds of videogames.

Great!
"To use" because it is a verb
"of using" because it (using) is like a substantive

Thank you very much palla di fuoco

Actually I chose that nickname from the name of my first PC's hard disk.
It is also a song by Deep Purple, but I learnt about that only afterwards. :D

Thank you very much palla di fuoco,
I'm looking for a theacher like you, who explains the reason of/to (?) use a determinate word.

this subject is hard to understand for me, can you explain that you study now?

Sorry again, but... Can you explain what you study now?
If you say "that you study", it looks like you are asking your interlocutor
for an explanation of the fact that he studies! ;)

A little hint: when writing in English, try avoiding on-the-fly translation from Italian.
For instance, "Lo conosco per nome" (="lo conosco tramite/per mezzo del nome") =
= "I know him by name", not "for name".

Well, I love maths.
My favourite sport is cycling, but I watch it in TV or on the road (alpine laps=tappe alpine), I don't ride bike.
I like novels and I read a lot of books. Actually I read in English Alice, and in Italian Flatlandia, I suggest you these books, they are near to maths.
Well you love philosophy... I am interesting: this subject is hard to understand for me, can you explain that you study now?

Hi Gio, I'm a student. My hobbies are F1 and others sports like football, basketball and judo; but at first F1.
I'm not a great reader, neither in italian, neither in english.
At school I'm intresting in all scientific's subjects, especially math; but in philosophy too.

What have I im common with you?

gio73
Welcome kobe,
what about you?
Are you a student?
What's your favourite sport (movie - book - food...)?

The British one is a bit "snob", isn't it? :D

PS: "ain't" also means "am not" and "have/has not" ;)

"fireball":
Yes, personally I find the American pronunciation easier than the British one.

I don't know that... I only know that American English is cool (but I don't understand it): I mean "gotta", "wanna", "ain't" (in the meaning of "isn't") and so on.

Welcome in the english corner kobeilprofeta. :smt006

Yes, personally I find the American pronunciation easier than the British one. After all, I spent three months in Austin TX, so I can be a little biased... ;)

It's not easy to find easy videos because those who speak, for example, on youtube don't usually think that someone who's not mothertongue would watch them so they talk normally, quite fast, without concerning about being "understandable" to everyone. Although, it's not impossible but it depends on your level of understanding: you can try to listen to something and maybe you'll find a voice that you understand better than others and so forth. My advice is to start with something aiming to teach English as these podcasts. You'll find plenty of it on the web. Finally I would tell you to look for something British but here on the forum someone finds the American pronunciation easier, so it's up to you.

Hello. I'm new in this conversation... I speak a little english 'cause my no one tought me it well. However I believe that the english is very important and I think that I am able to learn it. When I read a english text, I understand the 50-60% of that, but my purpose's listening an english audio and try to understand it. Now I'm going to explain better: I want to start watching videos that explain something in English. Can you advise me some easy video, about the math if it's possible, where I can start understanding something?

marcosocio
I agree with you too! And I like best this kind of poetry to the literary one :D I like maths right because I'm fascinated by how "the counts always come back" (i conti tornano :-D ), by all the beautiful reasonings behind the solution of a problem. It's incredible for me that my classmates see it as an enemy while for me it's almost a friend! (Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit :D )
