In addiction, no certificate is considered valid for more than 2-3 years (expecially for working purpose).
I think this is right*, but my collegue, French teacher, said the delf (certicate for French) is valid forever: is she wrong?

Good Sunday to you too! I asked because in a few days you managed to write overall correct sentences so that's the good spirit! Stick with it! (And pay attention to the correct spelling of with

If you find the time to study regularly, you will see that the English grammar is far easier than the Italian one and then you will focus more on the oral comprehension and the pronunciation, which are, in my opinion, the most difficult aspects of this language.
When you stop thinking in Italian and then translating and start thinking directly in English, then you will be a pro!

I studied few minutes on day : a bit whit my son, the elder, we are learning some words (pencil, pensil case, ruler, rubber...)
In addiction I did the homework on book for middle-school: I wrote present to be and now I'm whriting Countries and Nationality(-ies)
The homework on the scholastic book is completing whit a word, it don't ask writing a sentence.
I didn't listen to cd yet

Yes, I was talking exactly about them because at the moment I don't mean to study abroad, at least for the first three years, so the FCE will be enough. However, my teacher has already took me in the course for the CAE which will start right after my FCE exam, so I'm not stopping there my "language path".
@gio73 just for talking, how long have you actually been studying English? Just since this discussion was opened?
Torino's politechnics accepts FCE, without considering the grade achieved (A, B or C), Padua's Medicine does the same. TOEFL is an American Certification useful if a student wants to go the American Universities. CAE is here accepetd only in Foreign Languages University Courses just because of the high level of competence in writing using the various registers of the language which this certification requires. All in all, it is really a mess. And students want and need higher and higher levels which are not granted in high schools. 
Most universities ask for IELTS or TOEFL, with minimum grades comparable to a C1 level. CAE e CPE are sometimes accepted, but I don't suggest to do them for academic purposes. I totally agree but, you know, Italy prefers to give money to the banks or to buy extra expensive and asbolutely useless military weapons rather than to fund education and public services... I'm learning English also because I hope to escape from this country one day!
the most awkward aspect of this matter is that universities wants students to arrive with the certifications already taken, but nobody helps high schools in organizing courses or helping students to pay the extra-money required for the acquisition, and, recently, they accept certifications with the highest results only (I'm speaking of the B1 level, or PET, which is now accepted only if a student obtains it "with merit" or "with distinction".). I mean, if an Italian PUBLIC university wants this type of certifications, which depend from PRIVATE bodies, as Cambridge University, why on earth does it not invest some money on these certifications??? why must families only substain all the costs? this makes me crazy, you know. marcosocio...

Thank you! I hope I succeed! By the way, the one who is giving me lessons for the exam is not my English teacher (who, I'll tell you, is not so good in English) but another teacher from my school. He is very competent so I know I can trust him. He also arranges trips to London every August and last year I went too and it was a great experience for my language!

Yes, you're right! I think I've paid around 400€ for both the course and the exam, but it's worth it because I'll need it for my university!

Dear Gio73, why don't you ask your heamaster to organize a "corso di aggiornamento" for non-English teachers in order to have your efforts officilally recognized? FCE level (B2) is accepted everywhere in Europe! Be bold!

Actually, I was in doubt and I found that "sit an exam" is more British English while "sit for an exam" is more American English, but I think that both would work!
FCE is exactly that: it stands for First Certificate in English, it is one of the ESOL (English for Speaker of Other Languages) examinations from the University of Cambridge corresponding to level B2.
