The Finnish National Doctoral Programme in Mathematics and its
Applications} is a doctoral programme funded by the Ministry of
Education and Culture, and it comprises the following universities:

The Doctoral Programme in Mathematics and its Applications invites
applications for at least

FOUR (4) DOCTORAL STUDENT POSITIONS

The fixed-period appointments will commence on January 1, 2013, or
later, and the length of the appointments will be up to three years.

The doctoral student positions are intended for full-time study and
research leading to a doctoral degree in an area covered by the
Doctoral Programme. The doctoral student will, in addition to research
for the doctoral thesis, participate in teaching and other duties at
the relevant department.

Applicants to be elected for the doctoral student positions
are expected to have completed a Master's degree (or an equivalent one)
by the end of 2012 and to have an approved research plan. Successful
applicants are in addition expected to have demonstrated ability and
motivation for postgraduate studies and for completing the doctoral
degree in accordance with the study and research plans. The doctoral
student positions are intended for work in one of the units belonging
to the Doctoral Programme and applicants are expected to apply to be
supervised by a teacher (or teachers) from the Doctoral Programme, see

The contract of employment will be signed with the university in which
the doctoral student is working.

Doctoral students who already have funding from the Doctoral Programme
may, if necessary, apply for an extension of their period of funding.

Salary will be paid according to levels 1--4 of the university salary
scale for teaching and research staff, in addition to which the
appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work
performance.

Applications should be addressed to the Board of the Doctoral Programme,
and are required to contain the following attachments:
- research plan for the doctoral thesis, including a tentative schedule
for its completion
- curriculum vitae
- two (2) letters of recommendation, which may also be sent by e-mail

the progress of the doctoral studies will suffice

12 PhD positions (36 months) and 5 post-doc positions (12 months) are

PhD and PostDoc positions in Algorithmic and Enumerative Combinatorics

The Special Research Program (SFB) "ALGORITHMIC AND ENUMERATIVE
COMBINATORICS," a four-year programme (March 1, 2013 - Feb. 28, 2017)

it is my pleasure to send the first announcement of the Summer School GAME THEORY and RATIONING to be held in Campione d’Italia from Sunday 2 to Friday 7 of September 2018.

The aim of the school is to present the theoretical basis and some applied results for a game theoretical approach to the problem of sharing a resource among different agents, both under the light of cooperative games and of non-cooperative ones. In the former case, the simplest example is how to share the payoff among the members of a coalition, while in the latter one we may think to the division of a cake.

It is oriented to PhD students, post-doc, and young scholars. It has a distinguished interdisciplinary flavour, with speakers whose experiences come from Mathematics, Economics, and Computer Science.

It is organized in order to provide incentives for direct contacts among the participants; the lectures will be delivered in the morning and the rest of the day will be devoted to informal talks and discussions also with the speakers.

We are pleased that also for this Summer School some fellowships will be available.

Students can apply for fellowships, which will be assigned on the basis of a curriculum vitae to be sent to Mariagiovanna Falasconi ([e-mail]) before May 15th, 2018.

Each fellowship will consist in refunding the expenses for which documentary evidence may be provided, up to the amount of 500 (five hundreds) euros.

Se qualcuno fosse interessato ad una summer school avente per tema i Big Data, l'analisi dati e, anche, aspetti di tipo medico può provare ad inviare la domanda per questa, interessante, opportunità all'università del Michigan. Io, da studente della magistrale, l'anno scorso avevo provato a partecipare ma non ero stato scelto in quanto (mi disse la responsabile via email) hanno la priorità gli studenti USA e gli undergraduate (ovvero, in Italia, coloro che studiano alla triennale). In ogni caso la responsabile mi ha inviato una email (che immagino mandino ad ogni non ammesso degli anni precedenti) in cui mi invita a riprovare. Ormai io non posso partecipare perché, spero, a giugno sarò laureato ma, magari, a qualcuno di voi può interessare.

È stata attivata una selezione per tre tirocini formativi e di orientamento extra-curriculari retribuiti da svolgersi presso l'Istituto per le Applicazioni del Calcolo “M. Picone” del Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) nell'ambito del progetto Sportello Matematico per l'Industria Italiana.

L'obiettivo del Tirocinio è di formare la figura professionale del Traduttore Tecnologico nell'ambito della Matematica Industriale, in grado di facilitare la comunicazione tra imprese e centri di ricerca.

Il bando è rivolto a giovani con una Laurea Specialistica o Magistrale in una delle seguenti discipline: Matematica, Statistica, Fisica, Ingegneria, Scienze Informatiche ed Economia.

1. non è che sono a pagamento, è che dovrai pure stare in albero, mangiare fuori etc. Però sul fronte organizzativo, senti Fragnelli. Che poi se necessario ti dirotterà alla segreteria del Centro Volta

2. la TdG sta vivendo un bon momento, proprio in ingegneria. E non solo in economia industriale ed in organizzazione industriale, ma anche in ambiti propio prettamente ingegneristici. Ho collaborato con qualcuno al PoliMI su applicazioni alla rete internet. Non mi sembra una cattiva idea provare a saperne un po' di più

3. Io insegno TdG alla magistrale gestionale a Genova (il corso si tiene a Savona). Ho fatto il corso anche ai gestionali PoliMI pe run po' di anni, poi mi son stufato, avevo troppi esami (200 iscritti e passa...)

PS La cosa bella di Tdg, per altro, è che grazie alle innumerevoli applicazioni, se un ricercatore si stufa di fare teoria può passare ad applicarla in un ambito, se si stufa di quell'ambito in un certo momento, passare ad un altro, e così via. Molto stimolante.

Sono uno studente della magistrale di ing gestionale al polito. Non nascondo che mi piacerebbe diventare ricercatore nell'ambito della tdg, anche se per ora le mie conoscenze si limitano all'aspetto divulgativo e all'aver visto le sue (o tue? Siamo pur sempre su un forum XD) video lezioni online senza troppo impegno. Tuttavia l'ambito mi interessa moltissimo. In ogni caso nel prossimo semestre avrò un corso di economia industriale in cui circa metà programma è di teoria dei giochi.

Dice che si potrebbe provare?

1. non è che sono a pagamento, è che dovrai pure stare in albero, mangiare fuori etc. Però sul fronte organizzativo, senti Fragnelli. Che poi se necessario ti dirotterà alla segreteria del Centro Volta

2. la TdG sta vivendo un bon momento, proprio in ingegneria. E non solo in economia industriale ed in organizzazione industriale, ma anche in ambiti propio prettamente ingegneristici. Ho collaborato con qualcuno al PoliMI su applicazioni alla rete internet. Non mi sembra una cattiva idea provare a saperne un po' di più

3. Io insegno TdG alla magistrale gestionale a Genova (il corso si tiene a Savona). Ho fatto il corso anche ai gestionali PoliMI pe run po' di anni, poi mi son stufato, avevo troppi esami (200 iscritti e passa...)

Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to spread the first information about the Summer School GAME THEORY and ALGORITHMS to be held in Campione d’Italia on September 6-11, 2015.
The school is oriented to PhD students, post-doc, and young scholars. It has a distinguished interdisciplinary flavour, with speakers whose experiences come from Mathematics, Computer Science and Economics.
It is organized in order to provide incentives for direct contacts among the participants; the lectures will be delivered in the morning and the rest of the day will be devoted to informal talks and discussions also with the speakers.
Game Theory is assuming a wide relevance and several applications in various fields, from Mathematics, to Economics, Finance, Engineering, Political Science and so on. This makes of growing importance suitable algorithms. The aim of the school is providing insight in the computational aspects related to game theoretical tools.
Some fellowships will be available for participants and will be assigned on the basis of a curriculum vitae.
