The Industrial Revolution began in Great Britain for several reasons. The country had iarge deposits of coal and iron, the two natural resources on which early industrialization largely depended. Other industrial raw materials came from Great Britain’s colonies (which also provided markets for manufactured products, especially textile and iron items). The demand for British goods grew rapidly during the late 1700’s: this demand forced businessmen to compete with one another and to find less and less expensive ways to produce their goods. The businessmen achieved their goal through the development of factories, machines and technical skills. With the new machines the craftsmen instead of making object in their homes they worked into factories where goods were mass produced.
