the word "fiction" is normally used to talk about stories written in prose, although they can use poetic images. the short stories refer to a particular event , while in a novel (which is an art form developped during the 18 century) you can find more elements, people and situations ! in a text you can find: -plot : the series of events which form the story, and it can respect the chronological order (and the story is told in a linear way,from the beginning to the end) or it can be narrated using flashback, showing something happened before, and flashforward,or prolepsis.
- the narrator :the person who tells a story and explains what what is happening. The story can be narrated in 1 or 3 person
