The Crash Power
Out school day starts at 8.45 a.m, with the school assembly. Everyone meets in the gym and the head teacher makes annoucements about special events and after - school clubs. The head likes reminding us to always keep our school uniforms smart because we represent the school. Them at nine o clock the real work begins! Here's my timetable. See what I mean? Lunch in 45 minutes.
Some of my friends eat in the school canteen, but I don't really like the food there so I bring a packed lunch from home.
Our school year is is divided into three terms: autumn (september to December), spring (january to April) and summer (April to July). We get two weeks holiday at Cristmas and Easter, but we also get three half-term breaks of one week each in October, February and May. The summer holidays are six weeks, but it isn't enough!
This year I'm studying for my GCSEs - these are compulsory national exams. Most students take nine or ten subjects. I'm a bit worried about Chemistry! My sister is 18 so she's got her A-levels this year - these are like school - leaving exams. She's a bit stressed because they are important for university and she wants to study Law. Most students do three or four A-levels and the most popular subjects are English and Maths.
School's OK, but teachers can give us detention if we breake the rules. This means we stay in the classroom and do extra work during lunch or after school. Of course, I never get detention!
On Friday mornings we have PE and we can choose between football, rounders, hockey, netball, basketball and cricket. We're lucky because we've got our own playing fields. I'm in the school cricket team and during the summer terms we play matches against other schools - usually on Saturdays. The best day of the year is Sports Day because there are no lessons and the whole schools takes part in an athletics competition. It's a good laugh and our parents usually come and watch.
