A familiar ringing sound filled my ears. I woke. Disorientated, I attended to the call. A worried voice spoke to me.
"Doc, I need you. Not less than ten minutes ago, I heard noises, the bad kind."
More than slightly annoyed I replied. "I'm a doctor, not a psychologist, I can't do anything about the voices in your head."
"Doc, this is serious, you need my money, I need your TLC. Please, get over here''
Ten minutes later I was stood at the end of my most annoying patient's bed, Thomas.
"Let's get this over and done with. What did you see, or hear? Or not see or hear? And when?"
Taking a breath, Thomas began recounting his story about how he heard similar noises to the ones when he'd had his accident, and how he suspected this wasn't a mere coincidence.
"So, this creature-"
"Wolf, Doc, werewolf even," He reminded me for the billionth time.
"So, this wolf, did you recognize it? Was it the same?''
He gulped, "Doc, you see, the wolf.."
"Yes?" I prompt.
"It had your eyes."
I felt my trademark toothy smile before it became part of my expression, "Well, we wouldn't want that secret out in the open, would we?"
Mmm, I could that this was going to be particularly delicious..
