Ollie: Did you hear what happened last night?
Max: No.What?
Ollie: Tom broke [TO BREAK is the correct form, not "breack"] his leg.
Max: Oh no! How did he do that?
Ollie: He was riding his bike down a hill. He was going really fast when a woman suddenly walked into the road. She ? (go) [Are you sure that the phrase is complete?]. Tom didn't hit her, but he crashed [CRASH is the correct verb, pay attention!] into a wall.
Max: Did he go to hospital?
Ollie: Yes. The woman phoned for an ambulance while Tom was lying ON the road. He's still in hospital. I visited him this morning.
Max: Is he OK?
Ollie: Yes. When I arrived, he was waiting for a doctor to see him. HIS leg hurt, but he was smiling as usual.
HOW TO USE THE PAST SIMPLE:
• To show that an activity began and ended at a specific time in the past.
• To show that an action occurred over a period of time in the past.
HOW TO USE THE PAST CONTINUOUS:
• When an action in the past which had already started was interrupted by another action.
• When two actions in the past continued at the same time.
• When an action was continuing at a particular time in te past.
