For a long time women were prevented from cultivating any talent, both for reasons related to a society that was too sexist and patriarchal and for prejudices of another kind. If on the one hand, in fact, some authors have been forced to assert themselves using male pseudonyms,(?, non riesco a leggere) did it also happen that the choice was to stay in anonymous. In both cases, masking one's origin represents an attempt to defend against an era that rejected women as thinking beings, a challenge to those strong powers that always imposed certain gender standards.
I have chosen to talk about some writers who have composed their masterpieces anonymously.
The Bront sisters who had a rather precocious intelligence and spent their time studying, and reading, painting, and taking long walks on the desolate and wild Yorkshire moor; they had a very independent spirit, they did not feel the need to make friends with others, they did not like constraints and restrictions of any kind.
Currer Bell, Ellis Bell and Acton Bell are the male names chosen respectively by Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bront used above all to escape the prejudices and judgments of the nineteenth century. With these pseudonyms they wrote Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and The Lady of Wildfell Hall, novels that had great critical acclaim for their themes and their language and which still today represent the cornerstones of classical literature. Paradoxically, the younger brother Branwell Bront is the one who least succeeded in enjoying the success of his male status: overshadowed by the success of his sisters, in fact, he lived a mediocre and marginal cultural career, almost in competition with the female myth that Charlotte, Emily and Anne had built themselves.
I think that at the time today it is absurd to forbid a woman to express herself through writing.

alcune parti non si capiscono bene quindi ho provato a collegarle io!
