Inglese... shakespeare...
ciao a tutti, mi potreste aiutare a rispondere a queste domande in inglese??
1. What Shakespeare plays do you know?
2. What are they about?
3. Are they amusing or sad?
Grazie 1000 in anticipo...

Ciao, Mirk95! Ti aiuto con le tue domande. Ecco qui le risposte:
1) Shakespeare wrote lots of plays, both tragedies and comedies. Some of them are really famous and known all over the world. Shakespeare's most famous tragedies are probably "Romeo and Juliet" and "Hamlet". Among his comedies the most brilliant are certainly "Much ado about nothing" and "The merchant of Venice".
2) Actually is not easy to describe the plots of Shakespeare's works, since they are always very rich, full of characters and events that intertwine during the play. Trying to resume, "Romeo and Juliet" tells the story of two young and miserable lovers whose families are enemies. For this reason they cannot freely live their love and at the end of the play they don't have other choice but killing themselves.
"Hamlet", another beautiful Shakespeare's tragedy, tells the story of prince Hamlet of Denmark, whose father has been killed by his own brother -Hamlet's uncle- so that he can become king and marry his widow -Hamlet's mother. When Hamlet's finds out this horrible truth about his father's death -revealed to him by his father's ghost, he decides to get his revenge against his uncle. To do this, Hamlet pretends to be gone mad, causes the death of Ophelia -his fiancée-, and accidentally kills Polonius -Ophelia's father.
So Laertes, Ophelia's brother, decides to challenge Hamlet to a duel with the swords. During the duel, Laertes, Hamlet's mother and uncle, and Hamlet himself, find their death.
"Much Ado about nothing" is instead a comedy, which means it's much more amusing and has a happy ending. Briefly, this play tells about two young lovers, Claudio and Hero, whose marriage cannot take place because of a trick of the evil Don Juan, that makes Claudio wrongly believe that his bride to be has betrayed him the very night before the wedding. Together with Claudio and Hero's misfortunes, another love story takes place: the one between Benedick and Beatrice (Hero's cousine). At the end of the play all the deceits are revealed and solved and both couples can happily get married.
3) Since they are tragedies, "Romeo and Juliet" and "Hamlet" are very sad plays, in which terrible events take place and their leading characters die. Whareas Shakespeare's comedies are much more funny and amusing. "Much ado about nothing" for example, is a very brilliant play, and even though serious episodes and tragic moments are always present, it is basically full of jokes and amusing lines and scenes.
Spero possa fare al caso tuo. Ciao!
