Improve English
Hi all!
I usually don't write here (probably it's my first post
) because i really don't write english so well... but right to this I'm here: I'd like to improve my English (both in writing that in hearing/speaking).
I'd like to know which is, according to you, the best way to do it (without go out of Italy or follow an English course... i know these would be the best ways, but they're only a plan for the future and I'd like to do something now
).
I thought about write/read in an english forum and/or following an english telefilm/program... but I really don't know where to start!
I'm waiting for your advices (and corrections
)

There is an interesting collection of English Movies ( videocassette) with English subtitles called
SPOTLIGHT (Lazzaretti editore) http://www.lazzarettieditore.it/ Watch a film
which is a (new) periodical of English cinema and cinematographic culture suited in scenes and contents to students of English as a foreign language.
I found it in Milan here :

In Rome I dont know but you can check this list

Thanks for your answers... and now the question is spontaneous: where can I find, for example, some of these Film or Series with English subtitles?

These are good ideas. I'd start following tv series with (English!) subtitles (there is plenty of these available in the web). In the beginning, you'll need to read everything, but going on you will use subs only for strange words and for fast speeches (Dr.House uses both of them

Furthermore, since you are in University, you should start studying from English books. In fact, going on with the years, you'll have to face more and more difficulties in finding Italian literature for technical subjects such as Maths and Physics.
In my opinion I think that , in order to improve your English, the first thing you can do is avoid grammar books and focus on listening and speaking in English: I'm talking about television programs, for example, but also movies, programs.
For example, if your grammar is not this bad ( and looking at what you have written up there your grammar it's quite good ), you can try to see a film or, why not , a telefilm, in English but with English subtitles: in that way you will be able to understand what the characters are saying and , if you use this tecnique for a period , you will be able to follow a discussion in English, understanding the general meaning.
Concerning the speaking part I don't know at all where you could start: have you got an English friend or something similar ? If you want to improve your dialogue skills you have to speak English a lot, so you have to find a way to do it.
