A problem about pronunciation

how do you read the 0 in $x_0$, $C_0$ and similar?
i heard in a lecure something like "not", but i'm not that sure.

Indeed, Firkel is right. I just say and hear "ou" for 0 (this is quite reasonable, because a zero can be seen as the letter O). For example, I take the bus "205", and the speaker says: "This is bus two-ou-five etc.".

Very simply "Nought" is the common for for Zero in English.... In common speech you can also use the very rude sod all, or worse bugger all, nil,zero, in tennis love is used for the same.
